Fitbit is partnering with Deepak Chopra to bring guided meditation to premium service
Fitbit Premium customers will soon have access to a new Mindful Method collection that includes Deepak Chopra through audio and video meditation sessions. The company announced the partnership and launch of the new service on Tuesday.
Starting today, 10 audio and video sessions are available. The sessions last no longer than 20 minutes and cover a wide range of topics. According to Fitbit, you can use the session to prepare for a good night’s sleep or to encourage happiness and optimism.
There is a total of 30 sessions with Chopra that will guide you through various meditation techniques.
Personally, I never got the allure of meditation, but Fitbit had Chopra walk those of us who tuned in for the press conference through a live meditation session, and though I struggled at times, allowing Slack mentions and email chimes ignoring it, I felt very updated after the 10 minute session.
Fitbit Premium costs $ 9.99 per month or $ 79.99 per year. You can get a free 90-day trial even if you have subscribed and canceled beforehand.
Apple recently updated its Fitness Plus offering with a similar but different feature called Time to Walk. Instead of a guided meditation, Fitness Plus subscribers can go for a walk wearing Bluetooth headphones or AirPods and hear stories from celebrities.
I applaud both platforms that expand the type of services included in every subscription. It adds value and can help improve mental health in cases like Fitbit’s Mindful Method.
